How To Claim
Retailers can pay prizes up to $599 provided funds are available. Prizes of $600-$30,000 can be claimed at any Lottery regional office or by mail. Prizes over $30,000 must be claimed in person at Lottery headquarters.
Subscriptions
Players can purchase Mega Millions tickets online via the subscription service at www.mnlottery.com. Players must have a Minnesota address to purchase tickets through this service.
Beneficiary Information
40 percent of net proceeds to Environment & Natural Resources Trust Fund
60 percent of net proceeds to General Fund to fund state services such as education, transportation, public safety, human services
Retailer Bonus Structure
Retailers receive 5.5 cents for each $1 ticket sold, 1 percent of every prize they pay at their store and a top prize winning ticket cash bonus for selling top prizes ($50,000 for Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots)
Tax Information
Lottery winnings of $600 and above are reported to the IRS and Minnesota Department of Revenue
Withholding taxes of 25 percent (federal) and 7.25 percent (state) on all Lottery winnings above $5,000
