Lotto processes work the same in any situation you apply them to, even a draft lottery. It can be as simple as a raffle at your work place to deciding who qualifies for gas in their vehicles after a natural disaster. That is just the way it is designed to service. Not much different from flipping a coin to see if it lands on heads or tails. The lotto process pretty much gives everyone an equal shot at the same opportunity. No discrimination, just classic way to decide on something.
For pick 3 and pick 4 games, this would be to pick a winner but in this situation, it is much different (what you are choosing). The stakes of the outcomes are much more risky. Draft lottery processes were created around the early 1970′s. This is simply when a preference is set by the government and they order the military members in which it applies to to fight in the current war. This is called upon only when there is a shortage of soldiers and more coverage is needed.
It works no different from any other lottery drawing. Numbers are signed and announced, when it applies you go through protocol to prepare to fight. This is something that those chosen were never really prepared for. Take a second to imagine being in their shoes and being chosen. Would you really be able to handle that responsibility?
It definitely is not something that people expect, especially having no previous interest in the military. As they probably do go through some form of training, i is never the time that the prepared soldiers experience when they train and go through boot camp. Randomly getting drafted and having to fight in a war with no interest, experience and real preparation has to be one of the scariest things ever! Back when the government introduced it, the American population decreased by over 100,000. When people realized what was expected of them, many fled the country.
Others purposely committed crimes to be imprisoned and overall just denied accepting this command. This was not something that men felt like they should have been forced to do and neither was it their problem to solve or worry about. The president however felt differently. This was their way of not losing in numbers with the Vietnam war. Luckily this law was eliminated by the mid 70′s.
They soon realized that it did more damage than it did justice for the American country. Rather than having a repeat and a constant resistance towards the army, they began influencing people to join the original way. Any law or rule which forces someone to do something against their own will should NEVER be approved. That is very invasive towards someone’s life and personal beliefs. The United States is one of the main places where people feel their freedom and rights are valued opposed to other countries.
Ultimately, a draft lottery is not beneficial to anyone but the government. It was a very selfish motive from the start. Not all people even believe that wars are the answer to global crisis and battles. The fact that blood is spilled over minor things is not very appealing. Tyranny is never the way to solve any world problems. Classic debates and negotiations are more of the way to go. Unfortunately, this is the way the government chooses to operate though. Forceful violence should be eliminated on all counts. Hopefully someday, this will change to help make the world a better place. Violence is only ruining the world and the way people think much more. Something has to give soon! Things are not getting any better.
